The Liberty Electro Way

From The Declaration of Independence:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

 

I humbly propose that our system of government be altered in the following ways.

 

Determination of Worth

 

Candidates must be a successful business leaders having already acquired wealth by their own accord.
Candidates must have resided in and worked in the district they propose to represent for no less than twenty years.
Candidates must pen a letter that clearly describes why they are compelled to serve, their core beliefs in regards to Democracy, their main goals for their candidacy, and a plan for achieving them.

There should be no such thing as a career politician. Representatives should be intelligent, ethical, motivated, and successful people compelled to serve. Seeking not to elevate their stature, but to better the lives of all.

 

Safeguarding Integrity

 

Term Limits for all offices.
End lobbying in all forms.
End corporate campaign contributions.

No politician will serve longer than 2 terms. No entity foreign or domestic should be able to purchase influence, and representatives should not be able to peddle it. Being a representative should not be a lucrative enterprise. It should be an act of service done out of a sense of obligation.

 

Culture of Accountability

 

Representatives must maintain an online journal of work that details their itinerary and progress on stated goals.
Representatives must return to life in their district when their term ends for no less than 1 year.

Representatives should have to justify their choices and should not be allowed to hide from their constituents. Their decision process should be transparent and made historical record. At terms end, they should have to return to normal life in their hometown so people can hear from them firsthand what it is like to be a representative in the People’s government.
