Lose 10 lbs in 30 days. That was my mission. You see I had extra weight on my belly and butt, gained during my last pregnancy, that just WOULD NOT BUDGE with my usual very clean and healthy diet. With just 4 weeks until a much awaited beach vacation, it needed to go! Keto (Ketogenic) is my go-to for this kind of thing. And when I used in the past I would typically drop 3 lbs the first week and then 2 to 3 a week after that. But, that was when I was younger and before I had 4 kids! So, I felt like I needed to do something more. If you don’t know, keto is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carb diet. Usually, some variation of fatty protein, vegetables, and a littlie dairy, along with a quasi-carb alternative filled with fillers and fake sugar. I have no interest in consuming sugar alcohols or highly processed foods so, CLEAN KETO!
Here is my version of clean keto:
Fatty Meats
Lean protein is the go to for many diets, but not this one. Here the fat is the star, not the protein! You want high fat ground beef, ground pork, steaks, bacon, sausage, etc. Keep in mind, that quality really matters! Go for grass fed pasture raised meat and organic, if you can get it.
Vegetables with a focus on leafy greens
Low carbs vegetables include spinach, avocados (I know it’s a fruit), asparagus, lettuce, zucchini, olives, cucumbers, peppers, cabbage, kale, eggplant, green beans and Brussels sprouts.
Dairy
I’m lactose intolerant, so I limit dairy to just a little nibble of some good cheddar or some shredded cheese over a taco salad. Again, quality is important! Try to get organic dairy from grass fed pasture raised cows.
Nothing Else!
Like any diet, what you don’t do is as important as what you do. No alcohol, no sugars, no fruit, no fake sugars. Period! Suck it up and slap your cravings in the mouth! You’re an adult. Control yourself. Drink lots of water and think about how good you’re going to look in your clothes next month. The first couple of days are tough, but once your body clears out the sugar, you’re going to start to feel better. Your mind will be clearer and you will have more energy. And when you’ve lost the weight, you’ll feel better about who you are! It’s worth it!
Here is what a day in the life looks like. It’s simple and it worked for me. The 10 lbs. are gone.
