This is the story of my journey to becoming a Certified Acutonics Practitioner and being an ambassador of Acutonics at the American Herbalist Guild’s 33rd Annual Symposium.
What is Acutonics®?
Acutonics is an integrated approach to health care grounded in East Asian Medicine, psychology, science, cosmological studies and sound healing principles. This effective non-invasive methodology works with vibratory energy created through sound. From time immemorial the power of sound has been used to create, generate, transform, and give birth to new ideas and new consciousness.
Using sound and vibration to re-harmonize and attune the human energy field, Acutonics is a non-invasive yet powerful, transformational healing system. It can help address a wide range of ailments from the physical such as gastrointestinal, gynecological, respiratory, musculoskeletal, and neurological to psycho-spiritual, emotional, and psychological distress.
A Bridging Of Worlds
In March of 2022, as I was preparing to write my thesis for my Acutonics certification, I received an email from the American Herbalist Guild announcing their annual Symposium. It sparked a flash of inspiration! Could I somehow incorporate the symposium into a thesis project? After all, it was the study of Herbalism that had led me to Acutonics. The moment passed, and my focus returned to classes and clinic hours. By June 2022, I had completed all but two classes, Hygeia and Fundamentals, and the thesis was looming larger. I entertained doing my thesis on the Ghost Points (I would still like to come up with class/presentation for this) ,but I was struggling to get traction. Then, I received a formal invitation for the Symposium.
With it came another surge of inspiration and the revelation of certain synchronicities. It was the American Herbalist Guild’s 33rd Annual Symposium! 33! And it was being held in Bethesda, Maryland, which is not far from my hometown . Finally, it was scheduled for the weekend of October 22 & 23, which was the time of a very powerful Sun/Venus conjunction. All of these things told me that I was on the right path.
My idea was to be an ambassador and formally introduce Acutonics to the AHG and Herbal world. But first, I needed to contact the AHG and make sure that having a booth and doing mini treatments would be acceptable. I did, and it was! I just had to apply to be a vendor. Empowered that this might be possible, I sent an informal proposal to my teachers, Theresa and Will Morris. Theresa was supportive even though it was atypical and said it was worth a shot. I gathered my thoughts and sent the preliminary proposal to Acutonics HQ. To my great delight and astonishment the proposal was accepted, and incredibly the CEO of Acutonics, Ellen Franklin, PhD would be my advisor! I was elated and whelmed!
I got to work on the project immediately by first listing my reasons for choosing to present Acutonics at the AHG Symposium.
They were:
- The study of herbal medicine is what led me to Acutonics.
- Acutonics is a superlative complementary modality.
- There is a considerable amount of shared philosophy of wellness and epistemology between Acutonics and the other healing modalities represented at the Symposium.
- My presentation would provide awareness of additional resources for healers to enhance their existing protocols.
- The networking potential was tremendous, both personally and for people endeavoring to make positive change in themselves, their communities, and the world.
- The American Herbalist Guild’s Annual Symposium is the main event for Herbalism in the United States and has international attendees. The participants range from curious beginners to world class healers and doctors of multiple disciplines and modalities.
- And finally, the theme of this 33rd Gathering was Energetics, which made this year particularly apropos for Acutonics.
The following was taken from the American Herbalists Guild’s website and helps explain why I chose this organization to share Acutonics with. Many underlying principles align.
